Who delivers school construction projects in Western Sydney?

Monument Environments delivers school projects across Western Sydney for the NSW Department of Education, from Penrith and the Hawkesbury to the south-west. Examples include the Cambridge Park High School library fit-out, the Cranebrook High School fire remediation and library fit-out, and the Eagle Vale High School four-lane training cricket pitch.

Monument has delivered directly for the NSW Department of Education since 2016. A number of those projects are in Western Sydney, covering libraries, canteens, sports facilities, playgrounds and civil works.

Much of the Education portfolio is delivered in live, occupied schools, and the projects below follow that pattern.

Penrith

At Cambridge Park High School, Monument delivered a complete library fit-out in a live environment, with the school operating around the works. What a library fit-out can include is set out in how a school library is fitted out.

At Cranebrook High School, a library damaged by fire was made safe, remediated and fully upgraded with new linings, interactive audio-visual works, lighting, security and furniture. That project is covered in how a fire-damaged school building is remediated and rebuilt.

At St Clair Public School, Monument built a new basketball court.

The Hawkesbury

At Glossodia Public School, Monument refurbished the canteen. At Ebenezer Public School, it carried out asphalt resurfacing on the school playground.

South-west Sydney

At Eagle Vale High School, Monument delivered a four-lane training cricket pitch built to Cricket Australia guidelines. It was the first sports project for the new sports high school. The detail is in how a cricket training facility is built.

At Currans Hill Public School, Monument installed a new artificial turf soccer field.

At Busby West Public School, it refurbished the canteen and upgraded the preschool playground. At Cabramatta Public School, it delivered a design and construct canteen refurbishment that made the most of the working area for canteen staff.

Around Parramatta

At Rosehill Public School, Monument installed an artificial turf field and upgraded the preschool playground. At Yates Avenue Public School in Dundas Valley, it built a new accessible drop-off zone and driveway, and handled the council approvals and road-opening permits on the client's behalf. At Beresford Road Public School in Greystanes, it resurfaced the asphalt. At Carlingford Public School, it built a cricket pitch and long jump facility.

The common thread

These projects cover very different work, from a library to a turf field. What they share is the setting: a school with students on site, a timetable to work around and a handover date that cannot move.

Monument plans the work around the timetable, with secure fencing, separate access for plant and deliveries, and high-risk work kept away from teaching and movement times. Its wider Education portfolio is described in who delivers construction projects for the NSW Department of Education.
